As a More Than Just Great Dancing® dance studio, we teach our students the skills that will help them succeed in all aspects of life. We provide a range of dance classes for kids starting at age three, including Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Tap, and Hip Hop.

Level 1: Classes are designed for 3-5 year-olds who have not yet started kindergarten. Ballet/Tap Combo classes are offered at this level.

Level 2: Classes are designed for 5-7 year-olds who are in kindergarten or first grade. Ballet/Tap Combo and Hip Hop classes are offered at this level.

Level 3: Classes are designed for 7-10 year-olds who are in second, third, or fourth grade. Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Hip Hop are offered at this level.

Level 4: Classes include students who may have different degrees of experience. Students are encouraged to participate in more than one style in order to boost their overall progress. Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, and Modern are offered at this level.

Level 5: Classes expand on the objectives and skills mastered at Level 4. Some classes at this level may be invitation-only based on previous experience. Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Modern are offered at this level. 

Level 6: Classes build on the technical and artistic competencies acquired at Level 5, and most students participate in several classes per week to maintain their strength and flexibility. Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Modern are offered at this level. Some dancers may be eligible for specialty classes like Contemporary, Pointe Prep, or Pointe.

Level 7: Classes are the most advanced at SDC, designed for serious dancers who are physically and mentally ready for our most demanding technique classes. Level 7 dancers are expected to participate in multiple classes each week. Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Modern are offered at this level. Some dancers may be eligible for specialty classes like Contemporary, Pointe Prep, or Pointe.

Please note that Levels 5-7 offer lyrical jazz, pointe prep, and pointe dance styles for eligible dancers.

BALLET/TAP COMBO

With alternating weeks of ballet and tap instruction, our combo classes provide the best of both worlds! Our students practice the fundamentals of age-appropriate technique, as well as the French terminology. They also enjoy learning the basics of musicality and rhythm. Together with creative movement, these classes are consistent, imaginative, and full of fun!

HIP HOP

Street dance meets stylized music in this high-energy class. Isolations, footwork, and rhythms get faster and more challenging as dancers progress. And don’t worry—we always emphasize age-appropriate moves and music.

JAZZ

As one of the most expressive forms of dance, jazz offers dancers the chance to experience stylistic techniques in genres like Broadway, lyrical, Latin, and Swing. As dancers advance, more challenging progressions, turns, and combinations are introduced.

TAP

Rhythm and beats are key components to this fun-filled class! Tapping is like drumming with your feet: Increasingly syncopated timing and footwork make learning to tap a brainteaser as much as a physical workout.

MODERN

Modern dance takes dancers off-center, crafting abstract movement with inventive shapes and lines. This class requires a creative mindset! SDC’s modern classes are influenced by several well-regarded styles including Horton, Graham, and Limón.

BALLET

Ballet—considered to be the foundation of dance—blends tradition, discipline, and grace all into one class. At SDC, our ballet classes include elements from some of the most well-regarded styles such as Vaganova, Cecchetti, and Balanchine.
